To the future speech students, don't wait till the last minute to memorize a speech. I know I did on some of them and I know I could've done better when I had to present the speech. Good Luck to you all!! I assure you it's not as bad as people say it is :)

I would advice all of you to practice your speech more. Especially do not wait the day before to memorize it, or you will not remember it clearly. Practice in front of other people you do not have in class, to get used to an audience.

-Do not be nervous, everybody makes mistakes and has stage fright, you won't be the only one.
-Turn in your work on time, don't think you can turn it in later because you'll more than likely end up forgetting about it.
-Have fun with it and don't stress out.

My advice for you is dont procrastinate. It will be easy to do but you will be able to tell if you have not practiced your speech. So make sure you turn everything in on time and practice practice practice.

Do not procrastinate on learning your speech. Speech is a really fun class and is not near as hard as I thought it would be. Getting started on your first speech is about the hardest thing to do. After the first speech is over the class is a lot better.

This year my worst problem was procrastination. That is a very hard thing to get out of the habit of. I think that it would also be of major help if you made sure to write your OWN speech. If you just copy and paste it wont stick in your brain and you have to work harder to memorize it. Also practicing aloud with people around helps a lot as well.

When you are in Mrs. Sims' classes always, no matter what, do you assignments! I don't care how busy, angry, sad or scared you are. That's what you have to do. Don't put it off until the last minute because you will fail. This may seem harsh but once you get a speech written (on time) start learning it right away because when you get up infront of everyone you will hesitate and you will forget unless you have practiced over and over and over again. This is my advice and it sounds like everyone is probably giving just about the same advice as me, so take the hint. LISTEN!

You shouldn't wait and not care about speeches or just not do them. It can be a fun class. You just have to put effort into it. If you think you won't do well you won't. Just get your credit and get it over with. Don't have to do it again.

The advice that I would give anyone before they came into this class is to practice a lot, don't wait until the last second to look at it, don't get yourself all worked up over doing a speech, and just be very confident. Right after you get your speech done and your outline, my advice is to practice it all the time. Do not wait a couple days before it's time to present it or it will make things so much harder. You shouldn't get yourself all stressed out over it or it will make it so much harder for you. The last thing is definitely be confident about it. Get up there at the podeum and don't be nervous. If you are way too nervous, odds are that you are going to mess up and not do very good.

If you're in Sims' Speech class next year make sure you do NOT procrastinate.. It can and will be tragic, trust me. Make sure you learn your speeches ahead of time and always get them put on moodle early as well. If you don't get them on there in time, it can also be tragic. Just be sure to do your work and use a little effort on the way. Do that and you're good to go! :) Just remember, PRACTICE those speeches!!
